I was very disappointed when I saw that Blizzard did not include naval combat in RoC, so I set out to edit the melee system to include such things. Two years later I am ready to release this to the general public. Basically, this takes a regular melee map and adds elements of WCII and my own ideas as well as others that I have accumulated over the many months I have worked on this map. It is the only melee map of its kind that is able to be hosted on b-net without insane downloading time; average dl time is around 45 seconds. I have received very good feedback from those I have played it with on b-net, and I hope you will enjoy it as well. The latest version has been super-optimized for this purpose.



Here are the answers to all of your questions.

What does Orcs and Humans: Tides of Darkness seek to do?

I was annoyed that Blizzard failed to add a naval aspect to WC: III, so I set out to add it in. Secondly, I want this to be playable on bnet, and currently it is the only WCII styled map with a small enough file size to play on bnet.

Who worked on this?

I have done 99% of the actual map work, but I also had some help from Vexorian and Moyack more recently.

How long have you been working on this?

Over two years.

Does this seek to emulate WC: II perfectly?

No. This is a mix of the two, however many ideas are shared.

Why aren't there WC: III style heroes?

I decided that they are simply too unbalanced, and I found that many times people wouldn�t even bother with a ground army and just rely on heroes. The new version forces you to build armies.

Did you do any of the custom models/textures/icons for this map?

With the exception of a few icon edits, no I did not. Credits can be found in game in the Information tab.

Can I have any of the models in your map?

I'm afraid all of the models are the property of others and were given to me by the creators. Therefore, I can only tell you who made them.

Why is your map locked?

I've been a victim of having maps stolen and/or changed before and it is no fun.

Will you ever release an unprotected version?

Perhaps when I retire from WC: III.

What happened to the non-naval version?

I decided it was pointless as my mod is meant to implement naval combat.
