[Idea] TD+RPG

I wan't to start off with that I'm totally new to the World Editor (and this forum, at the time writing this), meaning that it's hard to use my logical thinking, problem solving and make ideas possible by myself in it. I've played WC3 a long time, and got hooked on TD's and RPG's, and I started wondering how all the maps were made, so I looked into the WE of course. I figured out that it must be very hard to make these maps, and alot of work with triggers (so many! O.O).

A week ago, I looked on defense and strategy games on Kongregate, and I found a "TD" named Protector. An interesting idea you can find in that game is that you choose which place you wan't to protect. No, I'm not talking about positioning towers, my message is that you can choose which challenge you wan't to beat. This gives an opening to make it into an RPG, where you, for example, can take quests to protect either a village, a valley etc. with towers!

I'm not much of a writer, yet, but I don't wan't to take my idea further until somebody can agree that it's good. Right now I think about the leveling system and what it will give the player. Can be new towers/upgrades of towers or other things. Atleast something to reward the builder with as it will gain exp in one way or another, mostly by trying out quests and complete them, and maybe outside the quests.

Please tell me what you think, and if you wan't to help me take it further and then complete it by making it into an actual map. |||Wow, it's really sad that nobody on this forum, that given this topic their eyes on it, can't give away just a few words. Is it bad, is it good? Should I mess something up? |||Sorry ExtremStrumpa, this forum has very few active posters left lol... most are waiting for Starcraft II, playing World of Warcraft, or playing Age of Conan (That I'm aware of), real life has hit most modders and they've either moved on with life and given up games, or just no longer deal with game modding.

It's hard to say what the case is, but it could be all of the above. Best advice, you could try other Warcraft III Fansites as this one is basically dying and is bot-infested xD Though you're free to still post here..just most active users post in Off Topic half the time.|||Thats extremely sad. xD

This forum is somewhat the opposite of the last forum I've been on, the one on tm-exchange.com. Alot of activity, new moderators, almost spamfree etc...

Seems like I got three choices... either continue with my idea on another site, wait for Starcraft II and submit my idea there or quit it and just continue playing this awesome game called WC3: TFT.|||Sounds interesting enough, and I'm always happy to add another to my list of 500+ unfinished mods.

So how shall we go about this? You make it and I mentor? Or I make the triggers and you shout (loudly) if something is amiss?

My commnts/suggestions/ideas regarding your mod:

1. It is fresh and exciting, people will like it.

2. Might be a bit more trigger-happy than most maps, if you know what I mean.

3. Higher level towers obviously only become available at higher levels of your hero.

4. Instead of hero abilities, let him learn the ability to build certain towers, and have a wide selection of heroes.|||Yay! rulerofiron99, you fill me with joy and happiness by messaging me that.

I would gladly make the map, the triggers, the modified objects, the custom abilities, but it is to much for just one person, and in addition, this person is a beginner at using the World Editor. So, if you would work as both a builder of the map and a tutor for me this would go very good as I see it.

We shouldn't be to hasty, as some of my teachers in school tells our working groups about an incoming project. That means that we start with the structure that this map will stand on, instead of making a map directly out of what have been said and just add to the unbalance of the map.

Any ideas of how should make this structure? Answering questions we ask to ourselves? Posting suggestions and ideas?|||We'll discuss this further via PM and IM, I sent a PM with the necessary information.
