[:1]A few years ago I released a playable Naga, Draenei and Corrupted Night Elf altered melee mod, but for some time I stopped playing WarCraft III and soon lost the files as well. The mod has probably been deleted too since I can't find it anywhere anymore.
No matter, I have started remaking the mod and I will also be adding three more races: Fel Orcs, Elves and even the Burning Legion itself. It doesn't feature any new maps it just modifies the standard melee maps to make these races playable. I have already made the Naga playable, so that leaves 5 more races to go.
I won't add anything new to these races or make any significant changes unless I think it's absolutely vital for melee/online play. For example, the Naga Royal Guard had no hotkey and couldn't be trained by any Naga building. It was also far too cheap, had a short training time and only required 4 food points despite being an extremely powerful unit, probably because the game developers knew it couldn't be trained anywhere so they didn't bother balancing this unit in any way. But like I said, most content will not be altered, even if the races turn out a bit unbalanced. There are several other things that will require editing, almost all of the units and buildings from other races need a training/construction hotkey or an accurate description. Draenei buildings can be placed on top of other Draenei buildings so this will require a fix as well. These buildings also fail to dispel blight like other standard buildings. Heroes will also need to be tweaked for melee/online play as no altar can actually train them by default and some Naga/Draenei/etc. Heroes have stats (such as food points or build/revive time) a bit different from typical melee Heroes. Two of these races have no "worker" units so they will have to be added as well.
Details:
Naga - Basically, they'll appear as they did in the Frozen Throne singleplayer campaigns, with a few description/hotkey/etc. fixes where necessary, an extra skin for the Naga Siren and a trainable Naga Royal Guard. As heroes, you'll get the Naga Sea Witch and a Demon Hunter (Illidan).
Draenei - They appear in only one mission of the Blood Elf campaign. There will be many fixes, as their units and buildings lack hotkeys, descriptions and other things because the game developers thought nobody would play them anyway. Their advantage was that if you built two main training structures, you no longer had the need to built any "farm" buildings because each provided 50%. They also have a wide range of Draenei warriors to choose from. Some were not trainable by default, but they will be. The disadvantage is that they have only 1 hero, the Elder Sage (Akama).
Corrupted Night Elves - They appear as they did in Eternity's End, although they too will require tweaking. Their units will consist of various types of Treants, Satyrs and Ghosts. Heroes: Corrupted Keeper of the Grove, Dark Ranger
Fel Orcs - Orcs, only more powerful. And red... However, certain types of units will not be available. Despite this, they can train dragons at their dragon roosts.
Elves - Basically like the human race, just with elves only, including worker elves.
The Burning Legion (And just for the record, they're NOT the same as the Undead) - Doom Guards, Fel Hounds, Infernals, demons in general. The Burning Legion is now playable. They don't actually have any "buildings" like the other races, all units are "trained" from portals and gateways. I'll have to think of a worker unit though. Heroes: Pit Lords and other demons you've seen...
Common Advantages: Armies can be built quickly as they don't have many upgrades or buildings
Common Disadvantages: [FIXED] Limited heroes, cannot hire heroes from taverns due to a game limitation that cannot recognize custom town halls, buildings will be revealed within two minutes of gameplay due to a game limitation that doesn't recognize custom races or town halls, no item shop, no backpack, sometimes miss something else that all the other races have.|||Well, good news, I figured out how to make the game recognize custom Town Halls and Altars, so none of those problems above should appear.
It still won't recognize custom races. So no Naga interface, because for some reason it's overriding the interface of all other races.
The selection method I made was: certain standard race + certain colors = you play with a certain custom race|||When do you plan to release this??
